As part of the our efforts to promote a safe community, HHRA organized a neighbourhood walk on December 1st to help identify areas in the community where the streets are dark and the streetlights are dim. Thank you to Gerald Adad from Safe City Mississauga and the two officers from CIRT who attended and patrolled the neighbourhood with us. All participants received a $10 Timmie's card!
This was also a social event where neighbours could bring their dogs and enjoy a nice cup of hot chocolate as we worked together to map the luminosity of our community streets. This information has been sent to ALECTRA to advocate for a well lit community and to identify areas of concern.

Residents who participated in the walk noted the following:
-
Some street lights were out, or appeared dim
-
Areas in our neighbourhood were dark and would benefit from additional lighting
-
Quite a few residents’ homes were dark (ie-no porch or garage lights on)
-
A tree that was entangled with the power lines
-
A tree obstructing the view of drivers turning from Durie onto Bristol heading into Streetsville
HHRA has forwarded our concerns to our city councillor, Joe Horneck and to the City Supervisor of Street Lighting, Bruno DiMichele. We will keep you posted on any communications from the councillor.
