Light the Way!

As part of the our efforts to promote a safe community, HHRA is organizing our annual neighbourhood walk in December to help identify areas in the community where the streets are dark and the streetlights are dim. Thank you to Safe City Mississauga and officers from CIRT who will be joining us to patrol the neighbourhood. This year's Light the Way walk will take place on December 14th at 5 pm. Please join us at Brown's Park.
This is also a social event where neighbours can bring their dogs and enjoy a nice cup of hot chocolate as we work together to map the luminosity of our community streets. This information is sent to ALECTRA to advocate for a well lit community and to identify areas of concern. As always, we post any feedback or communications from the councillor or City Officials to our members via our email or chat group.

Last year, residents who participated in the walk noted the following:
-
Some street lights were out, or appeared dim
-
Areas in our neighbourhood were dark and would benefit from
additional lighting
-
Quite a few residents’ homes were dark (ie-no porch or garage lights on)
-
A tree that was entangled with the power lines
-
A tree obstructing the view of drivers turning from Durie onto Bristol
heading into Streetsville
HHRA forwarded our concerns to our city councillor, Joe Horneck and to the City Supervisor of Street Lighting, Bruno DiMichele.
